Meet The Owners!
The Quilt Foundry is owned by four women who met through classes and work in the shop. In 1987 they had a chance to combine their talents and purchase the shop. Each has been quilting for more than 20 years.
234 West Wayne Street at Cass St., in Uptown Maumee We're Easy to Get to From Anywhere!
Mary teaches the beginning quilting classes at the Quilt Foundry, besides working in the shop. She also teaches photo transferring onto fabric and the traditional log cabin quilt. During the summer, she teaches the Kids Quilt Camps, getting great satisfaction sharing her love of quilting with young people. She is the person to ask about removing spots and stains from fabric.
Gretchen gives lectures or "show & tell" talks on antique quilts, memory quilts, quilts from kits, redwork, crazy quilts, and antique (1700 - 1900) serving tools. She incorporate guilts and quilt tops from her extensive collection into her presentations. She teaches a variety of classes including machine priciing and quilting, hand applique and embroidery. Gretchen judges quilt shows and is a professional quilt appraiser.
Peg loves playing with new gadgets to make quilt-making easier and will gladly demonstrate their use. She makes leaning about cathedral window quilts, yo-yo's and quick-pieced traditional designs a lot of fun. A nurse and a good listener, Peg loves to trade good stories. Her favorite pattern is the Lone Star.
Margaret took up quilting about 20 years ago to use up the fabrics she had accumulated from other sewing projects. That dream has led to a business and teaching others about the pleasures of making quilts. She likes mastering new techniques - from rotary cutting projects, to hand applique, to color studies. Margaret has lots of unfinished projects to add to that long-ago stash of leftover fabrics. She also works part-time for "The Electric Quilt."
